LUCHA is committed to advancing housing as a human right. Our properties provide safe, quality, and affordable housing options for individuals and families who meet income requirements. Submit your pre-application to be added to our waitlist for future housing opportunities. Wait times vary by development and unit size—typically anywhere from 9 months to 3 years. Se habla español.
Once you’ve completed your application, you can submit it in one of two ways:

Application Process: What to Expect
- Submit Pre-Application: Follow the steps above to complete and submit your housing pre-application form to begin the process.
- Waitlist Placement: Property management will review your pre-application. If eligible, you will be placed on the waitlist. Wait times vary by development and unit size—typically anywhere from 9 months to 3 years.
- Full Application & Screening: When a unit becomes available, waitlisted applicants are contacted and invited to submit a full housing application. Once ALL required documents are submitted, the process moves forward with screening. See below for a list of criteria and commonly required documents.
- Leasing & Move In: Once your paperwork is approved, property management will provide you with move-in instructions and next steps to get settled into your new home!
Criteria & Commonly Required Documents
- Applicant must be 18+
- Income for all household members 18+ will be verified and must meet unit requirements
- Background and credit check required
- Utilities (gas/electric) must be in tenant’s name
- Service animals allowed
- Social Security card required for all household members
Renting at Encuentro Square
Encuentro Square Apartments has two different rental programs. We encourage interested parties to apply for both programs. Each program has their own waitlist and will not be interchangeable. There are maximum income limits associated with both programs.
Project Based Voucher Program, which is under the guidance of The Chicago Housing Authority. This rental program is based on 30% of monthly household income. The Chicago Housing Authority waitlist for Encuentro Square Apartments is now open.Interested applicants can visit the website to apply at www.applyonline.thecha.org. The property is listed under Project Based Voucher (PBV) properties.
Affordable Housing Program where rents are at a fixed monthly amount based on 60% of the area medium income. The rents are not subsidized. This program is currently not accepting applications. Visit encuentrosquare.com for more information.

La Herencia Apartments Coming Soon!
La Herencia Apartments is currently under construction and expected to be completed in Fall 2026. The waitlist will open closer to the end of construction. In the meantime, individuals and families interested in our other affordable housing units are encouraged to apply to be placed on the waitlist using the steps above.
